What is Bright Beginnings?
YMCA Bright Beginnings ensures that all children are given the necessary tools to prepare for learning and a brand-new school year.
Children receive a backpack with school supplies, a hygiene bag, and a tote of winter clothing items to help prepare them for a great school year. For a child to participate, they must first qualify for the program. Participants attend a Student Store at their local YMCA where they will shop for free to collect new items before heading back to school.

The YMCA of Greater Richmond
The YMCA Bright Beginnings program ensures children in our community are prepared and confident for the school year by providing them with school supplies. They are also given quality time with their Shopping Buddy as they look for two new outfits, shoes, socks, underwear, a new jacket, and share a meal.
South Richmond Rotary
The South Richmond Rotary partners with the YMCA of Greater Richmond to participate in their Bright Beginnings program each year. A rotary member sponsors a child and is given the opportunity to go shopping with a child in need to get ready for an upcoming school year.
